How to play Block Drop

Block Drop is a free falling-blocks puzzle game you can play in your browser on a computer, tablet or phone — no download, no account and no ads in the game. Pieces made of four squares fall one at a time into a field ten squares wide and twenty tall. Move and turn each piece as it falls so it fits against the others. When a row is completely filled from wall to wall it disappears, and everything above it drops down. If the pile reaches the top, the game is over.

Controls

On a keyboard, use the left and right arrows to move, Enter or the up arrow (or X) to turn clockwise and Z to turn the other way. Hold the down arrow to drop faster, or press Space to drop the piece straight to the bottom. Press C or Shift to hold the current piece and swap it out for later, and P or Esc to pause. On a phone or tablet, use the buttons under the board, or play on the board itself: tap to turn, drag sideways to move, drag down to drop slowly and flick down to drop at once.

Tips for a higher score

Scoring and levels

Clearing one row scores 100 points, two rows 300, three rows 500 and four rows at once 800, each multiplied by the level. Clearing rows with consecutive pieces adds a combo bonus. A soft drop earns one point for each row it falls and a hard drop two. Every ten rows cleared takes you up a level, and the pieces fall faster. You can start at any level from 1 to 10. Your best score is remembered in this browser on this device only.
