Dig deep, grab the gems
Miner is a digging game in your browser. Tunnel through the soil, collect every gem, go round the stones — and when a hidden bomb starts to fizz, run. Deeper down, strange creatures come after you.
How to play Miner
Miner is a free digging game you can play in your browser on a computer, tablet or phone — no download and no account. You are a miner with a lamp on your helmet and a pick over your shoulder, at the top of a slice of underground. Wherever you go you dig, and the soil behind you becomes a tunnel. Gems glint in the soil below: collect every one of them to clear the level, then dig on into the next, deeper and harder.
Controls
On a keyboard, move with the arrow keys or W, A, S and D: up, down, left or right, a tile at a time. Digging through soil is slower than walking back along a tunnel, and you can turn round at any moment. Press P or Esc to pause. On a phone or tablet, put a finger on the ground and the miner heads towards it, or use the buttons under the ground.
What is down there
- Gems — emeralds (50 points), sapphires (100), rubies (150) and, deeper down, diamonds (400). You can see them all from the start.
- Stones are too hard to dig. Go round them.
- Bombs are hidden in the soil: you only find one by digging into it. Its fuse starts to fizz — get two tiles away before it goes off. A blast clears the ground around it, stones and all, sets off any other bomb nearby, and can be used on the creatures.
- Wisps appear from level 3: floating eyes that wait in their caves, then find the shortest way to you through your tunnels. They cannot dig, so soil keeps them out.
- Grubs appear from level 5: burrowing worms that chew straight through the soil towards you, slowly.
Lives and points
You have three lives. A creature's touch or a blast costs one, and you start again at the surface, blinking and safe for a moment. Every tile you dig is a point; clearing a level scores 500 times the level, plus up to 600 for speed, and gives you a life back. A creature caught in a blast is worth 250. Your best score is remembered in this browser on this device only.
