Make music right in your browser
A music studio on a web page: play the instruments, build a beat, record what you play and arrange it all into a song. We are building it now.

A free music studio that runs in your browser
Music Studio is a free place to make a song without buying or installing anything. Open the page, pick an instrument and play. Stack one part on another — drums, bass, chords, a melody, your own voice — until it sounds like music, then save it as a file you can share. It is built for people who have never used recording software as much as for those who have, and it will work on a phone, a tablet or a computer.
What we are building
- Instruments you can play: piano, electric piano, organ, synths, bass, guitar and strings, played with the on-screen keys, your computer keyboard or a touch screen.
- Drums and beats: drum kits to tap out by hand, and a step grid for building a beat one hit at a time.
- Tracks: a timeline where each instrument has its own track, with volume, pan, mute and solo.
- Recording: record what you play, or your voice or a real instrument through the microphone, in time with a metronome.
- Loops: ready-made drum, bass and chord loops that follow the song's tempo and key, to drag in and build on.
- Editing: cut, move, copy and repeat sections, and fix single notes in a piano-roll editor.
- Effects: reverb, delay, equaliser and compression on any track.
- Export: save the finished song as an audio file.
These arrive in stages. The instruments and the tracks come first; recording, loops and export follow.
No download and no account
The studio is a web page. There is no app to install and nothing to sign up for, and it is free — the same as the other tools here. Sound is made by your own device, so playing has no delay from a server.
Your music stays yours
What you play and record will stay on your device unless you choose to save or share it. Recording from a microphone will ask for your permission first, every time a browser requires it, and the sound will not be uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Is Music Studio ready to use?
Not yet. This page is where it will live, and it is being built now.
Will it cost anything?
No. It is one of our free apps: no price, no sign-up and no watermark on what you make.
Do I need to know how to play an instrument?
No. Loops and the beat grid let you put a song together without playing a note, and the instruments are there when you want to try.
Will it work on my phone?
That is the plan: touch keys and drum pads on a phone or tablet, and the full timeline on a bigger screen.
Music Studio is in the making. Nothing on this page records or sends anything.
